Rare color woodblock print by Japanese avant-garde master Akira Kurosaki (1937–2019).

Titled Solitude (W159), this edition is hand-numbered 59/200, pencil signed and unframed. Printed with pure pigment and ink on high-quality Japanese paper.

Dimensions: approx. 8.5 x 8.5 inches image size.

This is one of the artist’s most elusive and psychedelic designs, rarely seen on the market. While many Kurosaki prints from this era focused on abstract geometry or architectural color blocking, Solitude plays with organic surrealism—featuring dreamlike forms and pop-art symbolism (dice, globes, tendrils) emerging from a dense black background. It resembles a collaboration between Tadanori Yokoo and the Bauhaus school.

This print stands apart from others in Kurosaki’s W-series catalog for its expressive tonal gradients and almost extraterrestrial anatomical theme. Highly collectible and ideal for collectors of 1970s Japanese avant-garde printmaking, psychedelia, or retro-futurist design.
