Found This Week: The Full Sequence
Lots of apparel posted this week, and there's still more coming. Twenty-one listings since last Monday. Ten make the post, the rest sit in the store and wait their turn. Most of what follows is one artist, so if you do not know who Rockin' Jelly Bean is, that link is the short version: masked Japanese illustrator, pin-up and hot rod lineage, Erosty Pop in Los Angeles in the late 90s, Erostika in Tokyo after. Now the shirts.
The Human Centipede II: Full Sequence, Erostika, Rockin' Jelly Bean, XS, New With Tags
RJB drew the poster layout for Tom Six's second film and Erostika put it on a United Athle blank. Crawling figure, teal title, full cast and crew credits, 2011 Six Entertainment copyright. This one is deadstock: Erostika skull hang tag, the RJB art graphics card, and the size tag all still attached. Style THCSS-02. Japanese XS, 17.5 in chest, which is a real XS and not a suggestion. (A movie most people will not watch, on a shirt most people will not wear. That is the audience. It is a small audience and it pays.) $200.
The Human Centipede III: Final Sequence, Rockin' Jelly Bean, S
The companion. Part III, Final Sequence, 100% Politically Incorrect printed right on the front, the connected figures winding down the shirt, RJB signature in the print. United Athle 5001-01 blank, size S, no tags this time but the print is clean with no cracking. Two different shirts for two different films, not a duplicate, and the pair is here for whoever wants both. (Nobody has ever needed a matching set of these. Someone will buy the set anyway.) $200.
Evangelion 2.0 Rei Ayanami Raglan, Rockin' Jelly Bean, 2010, M
Official. Rei in the white plugsuit holding the Lance of Longinus inside a teal circle, RJB signature dated 2010, Evangelion 2.0 script, and the khara copyright mark in the print, which is the part that matters. From the Rebuild-era Erostika run. White body with black three-quarter raglan sleeves, size M, 20 in chest. Light age toning on the white, print bright. (Two obsessions of this shop on one shirt. It was going to end up here eventually.) $150.
Erosty Pop 1998 Pullover Hoodie, Burgundy, S, Made in USA
Before Erostika there was Erosty Pop, RJB's Los Angeles label. This is the 1998 hoodie: small logo on the left chest with the 1998 Erosty Pop, Los Angeles, R. Jelly Bean Art Graphics text under it, big pin-up and logo across the back, Erosty Pop printed on the hood itself. Original Erosty Pop Los Angeles woven tag, made in USA, 50/50 fleece. Light pilling, mild fading, prints intact with no cracking. Size S, 20.5 in chest. (Twenty-eight years old and the hood print survived. The hood print never survives.) $150.
Erostika Apple Jack, Rockin' Jelly Bean, Green, M
Erostika Tokyo, printed in Japan. Pin-up figure with a rabbit and a speech bubble on the chest, green body. Excellent condition, colors bright, no cracking, no fading. Size M. Adult-tagged, which for RJB means what it always means: a pin-up on a shirt. (Green is the hard color to sell and the easy color to keep.) $150.
Hajime Sorayama x Medicom Toy Sync. Long Sleeve, Black, M
Different artist, same lineage. Sorayama's chrome pin-up figure center back, Sorayama in teal under it, Sorayama down the left sleeve in teal block letters, plain front. Medicom Toy Corporation, 100% cotton, size M. Good condition, no holes or stains, print intact. (Medicom puts Sorayama on a Bearbrick and a shirt and a figure and it works every time. That is not luck, that is chrome.) $150.

X-LARGE x Hajime Sorayama Chrome Gorilla Hoodie, S
Sorayama reworked the X-LARGE OG gorilla in chrome, signed Sorayama for XLARGE under the box. Washed navy heavyweight fleece, XLARGE Los Angeles tag, size S, 19 in chest. Even fading across the fabric, most visible on the hood and cuffs, print bright with no cracking. (The X-LARGE gorilla has been redrawn by half the artists alive. The chrome one is the one people remember.) $150.
Cootie Productions MO164 Work Pants, Gray, M, Japan
Three Cootie pieces this week, this is the first. Gray work pants, button fly, trouser pockets, orange Executed With Pride hem tag, woven Authentic Cootie Productions Reliability patch on the back pocket, shank button stamped Elder Brand Quality. Made in Japan. Tag M, about 32 in around the waist laid flat, 29 in inseam, 8 in leg opening. Fading and soft creasing from wear, hardware intact. (Cootie writes more copy on a button than most brands put on a website.) $150.
Cootie Productions Five Pocket Slub Cotton Pants, Tan, 30, Japan
Second. A jean pattern cut in heavy textured slub cotton instead of denim, straight leg, button fly, Cootie fly buttons and rivets, leather back patch, Royal Quality Cootie Satisfaction Guaranteed waistband tag. The Cootie cloth pant, same cut kj of Dragon Ash wears. Tag 30, 28 in inseam, 7.5 in leg opening. Fading and creasing in the cotton, hardware intact. (It is a jean that is not a jean. Cootie has been making that joke since 2000 and it still lands.) $150.

Third. Oversized football-jersey cut, logo across the chest and back with a seam running under the print on both sides, dropped shoulders, pigment-dyed fleece with the fade built in at the factory. Executed With Pride tag, size M, but 23.5 in chest and 29 in long, so read that as boxy. Even wash fading, prints intact. (The fade was there when it was new. The fade got better anyway.) $150.
Ten of twenty-one. The other eleven are live in the store, including more RJB, a Neighborhood blazer, the Fuji Rock 2012 tee, and the HUF x Erostika collab. Found a couple of good t-shirts recently too. And a super dope Nike ACG jacket. I need to do a small repair on it, but it'll be here just in time for the cold weather this winter. Not listed yet.
