Found This Week: Not Shiny
Seventy-three things went live since the last one of these, and about fifty of them are telephone cards, so the lot rule is doing the heavy lifting again. Under the cards: a Gucci ring, a Verameat ring, three Zippos, three slabbed Weiss Schwarz cards, a slabbed football card, eight novelty silver bars that are not silver, a Big Dogs shirt, a second Fowl Side Donald, an Evangelion Tamagotchi, and the first Fullmetal Alchemist DVD, which the Japan post would like a word about. Ten entries, by price, lots squeezed. No story from the desk; the Sunday ping never went out, which is on the machine, not on him.
Gucci Square G cutout band, Ag925, size 19, $185
Sterling, Ag925 and Made in Italy stamped inside, engraved foliage all over, beaded edges, the square G cut clean through the band. Italian size 19, which the listing calls roughly a US 9 and then tells you to measure first. Pre-owned, aged finish as designed, light wear, five photos. (This store's brand list has a too-shiny category and Gucci would usually live in it. This one is not shiny. It is oxidized on purpose and the logo is a hole. That is the loophole and it is a fair one.) Here.
Verameat Pirate Love Helm ring, size 4.75, $75
A six-spoke ship's wheel on a narrow band, cast with a hand-worked surface and oxidized so the detail sits in the shadows. Size 4.75, no bends or repairs, four photos. The listing says Verameat sells this style new at $168 and lists it as sterling, and that this one carries no metal stamp, both stated. (A ring the size of a pinky with a steering wheel on it. The esoteric jewelry pillar on this store is small and this is what it is for.) Here.
Fifty-odd telecas, $15 to $55
The telephone cards came in three waves this week, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday night, most of them PC game shop bonuses again (Sofmap, Messe Sanoh, Toranoana, Laox, GWAVE), most adult-tagged, so the museum register applies: credits off the face, condition, stop. Two at the top at $55, Aine Haneda, Cherry Boy ni Kubittake, four photos, and Seiya, Yumemishi, three. Then a tier at $50 (Stella and Riina from Futago Hime Chichi 3, two Dengeki Hime magazine bonus cards from 2004), a tier at $45, and a long tail down to the $15 gravure cards from Young Jump, Young Sunday, and Young Champion, plus two 1990s swimwear campaign cards from Keikyu and Asahi Kasei that were corporate giveaways, not magazine ones. (Three waves, fifty cards, one listing format. The format is the point. You read the face, you write down what it says, you stop.) The batch is at the search; two cards that are not adult-tagged get their own entry below.
Girls Gone Wild silver bars, lot of six $55 and lot of two $25
Two listings, same object: novelty bars with the black enamel silhouette on the front and "100 Mills .999 Fine Silver 1 Troy Ounce" on the back. The listing says it plainly: silver plated, not solid silver. "100 Mills" is the tell; it is the phrase novelty plated bars use so that the words ".999 fine" can sit next to it, and the fine silver is the plating, not the bar. Heavy tarnish, enamel intact. Six bars, six photos, $55. Two bars, five photos, $25. (A 2000s late-night-TV brand stamped on fake bullion. The listing calls it a collectible oddity, which is the correct category and the only one.)
Big Dogs, Nothin' Butt Bass, 2005, L, $50
White, the small St. Bernard on the chest, the big back print of a woman in a purple bikini with a fishing rod and the caption, 2005 Big Dog Holdings copyright on the back, original yellow tag in the neck, men's L. Used, graphic clean, no cracking in the eleven photos. (Big Dogs out of Santa Barbara made a pun shirt for every hobby a dad could have, and the pun was always the whole shirt. This is a clean one from the years before the stores closed. The listing says the pun does all the work. It does.) Here.
Three slabbed Weiss Schwarz, $40 to $45
Three CGC slabs. Kuromi, A Little Bit Selfish, holo Blau Rare from the 2024 Sanrio Characters Weiss Schwarz Blau set, SRIO/01B-068B, CGC 10, $45. Two from the 2025 Japanese Dandadan set: Occult World, S118-019 Climax Rare, CGC 9.5, $40, and Father's Study, Aira, a common, CGC 9.5, $40. Three and four photos each. (A common in a 9.5 slab is a $40 object because somebody paid to slab a common. The Reviewers lot two weeks ago was six raw cards for $20. Same game, different religion.)
Bo Nix rookie, Wild Card Alumination, 2 of 5, TAG 10, $45
Bo Nix riding a stegosaurus on silver pulsar foil, 2023 Wild Card Alumination, Dino-Might insert AD-BN2, numbered 2 of 5, graded TAG 10 Gem Mint. Two photos, the slab and the label. (Wild Card is the card company working without a league license, which is how you get a quarterback on a dinosaur. Five exist. This is the second one. The post is not going to pretend to know what that is worth.) Here.
The Fowl Side, again, used this time, $40
Not the one from September. That one was new with tags, L, $110, and is still in the store. This is the same Disney Store print, devil Donald with the trident and the flames, sand colored, assembled in Honduras of USA fabric, L, 29 by 20, used: natural cracking on the graphic and a small faint stain near the bottom of it, both in the ten photos. (Same shirt, a third of the price, and the difference is somebody wore it for twenty-five years. Decide what you are paying for.) Here.
Two telecas with no warning label: Ranma 1/2 and Virtua Fighter 2
Out of the fifty, two that are plainly anime and game cards and nothing else. Ranma 1/2, Big Trouble in Nekonron, the 1991 movie, the whole cast on the face with the Japanese title box, $35, three photos. Sarah Bryant, Virtua Fighter 2, a Gamest magazine card with the Sega copyright on it, $25, three photos. Both unused. (Gamest was the arcade magazine. A Gamest Virtua Fighter 2 card is a 1995 arcade kid's wallet, flattened. The Ranma one is the first Rumiko Takahashi card in this series, as far as the run log says. Those are different sentences and both are true.)
Three Zippos, Bradford PA, $22 to $35
Three, each with the base stamp read for you, because that is the whole method with a Zippo: a letter for the month, two digits for the year. Black crackle with a raised dragon, B 22, February 2022, $35. 207 Street Chrome, the plain brushed standard, F 19, June 2019, with its box, $28. Brushed brass, no design, E 23, May 2023, $22. All pre-owned, inserts present, sold unfueled, five photos each. (None of these is old. All of these are Zippos, which is a different kind of old: the company has made the same object since 1933 and has stamped a date code on the bottom for decades, so you never have to guess. The listing for the brass one says "a lighter and not a billboard." Correct.)
Also up
Two twenty-dollar things that belong in this post more than some of the things above it. The Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 1 collector's tin, FUNimation 2005, the first four episodes of the 2003 series, opened but unused, a customer return, and the owner of this store is halfway through a Fullmetal speed run as of Friday's Japan post, which is either a coincidence or a plan. And the Evangelion Tamagotchi, black EVA shell, new battery, screen lit in the photos. Also: thirty sealed copies of the Kite Liberator Media Blasters DVD at $15 each, a Disney Divided Sorcerer Mickey button-up, an LRG Black Panther tee, and the Dalbello part from two weeks ago, still waiting on a word. Next Monday.
